Happy Monday!

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  Hope you got to relax a little bit and do something fun.

Our weekend started off with a bang!  On Friday a big UPS truck backed itself up to the barn…

and we loaded up two pallets stacked with boxes full of 1canoe2 recipe cards and notepads! Thanks to all of our sweatshop workers, this shipment is on it’s way to one of our favorite retailers. What a great way to start the weekend!

On Saturday Karen and I ALMOST got done labeling, stamping and stuffing about 1,ooo envelopes with our promotional materials for NYIGF. Just a few more to go. I was remembering this episode of Seinfeld. But don’t worry, I feel fine.

There was also a lot of Olympics watching going on around here. Have you been following the Dream Team and their world domination? They’ve been cruising through their games. They scored 156 points against Nigeria, beating them by 83. Ouch. Surprisingly though, that’s not going in the books as the most lop-sided Olympic basketball game.  Saturday’s game was a different story. Lithuania put up a good fight only losing by 5 points.

Which player was high scorer in that game, you ask? LeBron? No. Kobe? Nope. The Dream Teamers met their match in Linas Keliza, from Lithuania.  He out-scored them all. Does that name sound familiar? It should. Kleiza played ball at Mizzou. That’s right. Atta-boy Linas!

What’s been your favorite event to watch in the Olympics?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how far we’ve come in the last 12 months.  I will probably always be reflective this time of year, when August rolls around, and there’s talk about school starting soon, and I think about how I used to spend these days getting my classroom ready for the year. One year ago I was just getting comfortable with the reality of my decision to step away from teaching and devote all my time to our little business. And since then, Beth also jumped on full time, and we added Karen as a partner. We’ve seen a lot of growth, and some exciting things have happened, and sometimes I think “How did we get here? How did this happen?” The truth is, we are really blessed.  So blessed. God has given us a great opportunity to use our talents and He’s surrounded us with an incredible support system. He’s opened a lot of doors for us, and he’s given us the desire to work hard.  And we’re having so much fun!

I have to remind myself daily to be thankful.  His blessings are abundant, and He’s given us a lot more than we deserve, but I can’t wait to see what He has in store for us down the road.
