Well, I feel like I need to apologize for the lack of posts on our blog recently. I’m sorry it’s been so quiet around here! We’re currently wrapping up a big project that has pretty much consumed me for the past few weeks. It’s been a nose-to-the-grindstone kind of thing that has taken all of my creative energy.
I’ve been spending a lot of time right here, at my dining room table, surrounded by this mess, usually into the wee hours of the morning. Yes, my sleeping schedule has definitely suffered, and that needs to be addressed soon, but I have loved the process and loved the work. I was discussing this with a friend recently, who is also an artist and totally dedicated to what she does. We both agreed that it is such a blessing to have found a creative outlet, something that totally consumes and engrosses you, and that you care about so much. I don’t think that everyone has something like that in their lives, so I feel really lucky.
So what is this big project? What has been keeping me up at night? Let’s just say that the 1canoe2 greeting card line is about to grow by leaps and bounds. Actually, it’s about to explode. We’re really excited, and you’ll be hearing more about it soon!
On a side note, college basketball season starts this weekend! Yes.
We’ve got some pretty big Mizzou Tigers hoops fans around here, so we’re all excited. It’s kind of a requirement if you want to work at 1canoe2. Just kidding. Kind of. That’s why we hired Zach. No, not really. Well, maybe it didn’t hurt his case.
We’ve got high hopes for this season! Are you ready to see how excited we are? Okay, watch this!
* You’re about to meet my brother (and Karen’s brother-in-law), Dustin. He’s obviously excited about Mizzou basketball, but he’s also a high school art teacher, getting ready to start his own creative business, and he’s a big 1canoe2 supporter.
** And, sorry for the shaky camera work. There was a lot of energy in that room.
