People Who Make the World Go Round

People Who Make the World Go Round {Friends!}

Friends

Friends! Pals! Best Buds! What would we do without them?! Seriously.

Just think how different your life would be if you didn’t have that person who just gets you. That person who has known you forever. The person with whom you share all the inside jokes, and who always knows just what you are thinking. We rely on our friends for so much! Friends are there when you need a shoulder to cry on, when you need an honest opinion, when you need a ride to the airport, and most importantly when you need someone to celebrate with!

Who is your best pal? Your partner in crime? Who do you call first when you have good news? Who do you know will be there for you no matter what? Friends are at the center of our lives, but how often do you actually thank your amigos? Well, it’s probably time you should! You can download our free printable best pal card right here, and make it a point to let your them know just how much they mean to you!

People Who Make the World Go Round {The Waiter/Waitress}

waiter-waitress-thankyou

To all of the waitresses, waiters, servers, baristas, and bartenders of the world: THANK YOU!

I never worked in the food service industry, but I know many who have. I also know that those who do are often under-appreciated. We all know its true that a great server/bartender/barista makes a meal 100% more enjoyable. It’s time to start recognizing them!

Last week we had the chance to eat at some amazing restaurants in New York City. Wow, there is so much food to eat in New York. So much good food. We hit up some of our favorite spots, and we tried some new ones as well. I can honestly say that we had excellent service everywhere. And, we took note! We left some ‘thank yous’ with our bill (and tip!) as a token of our appreciation. Because, isn’t it the best feeling to get noticed doing an excellent job? You bet it is.

Do you have a local hangout? Maybe a favorite barista who makes your coffee with a smile every morning? Maybe a waitress at the diner around the corner who knows you by name? Let them know that they are doing a fantastic job, and maybe slip them something a little extra next time.

You can click right here for a free printable of our Waiter/Waitress Thank You card. Go give it to someone who serves you with a smile! They deserve it.

People Who Make the World Go Round {The Green Thumb}

greenthumb

The growing season is in FULL swing in our part of the world. Flowers are blooming, tomatoes are ripening, and the corn is taller than me. We love this time of year because of the lushness and wonderful things that summer brings. We also appreciate all those people who put in the time and effort to help tend gardens and mow lawns and just keep everything alive and well.

This month we are thanking all of those people in our lives who have a green thumb! Maybe it’s that person who mows your lawn, or who waters your plants while you are gone from home. Maybe it’s the person who you buy home grown veggies from at your local farmers market, or your neighbor who shares their bumper crop of zucchini with you. †Maybe it’s your local florist, or the groundskeeping crew at your favorite park.†I’m sure you have a person like this in your life, and we hope you take a little time out to let them know how much you appreciate them and the work that they do to make this time of year so wonderful!

You can download our†free printable green thumb card right here, and†donít forget to let us know about your favorite green thumb! You can tag any social media with #worldgoroundproject, or send us an email about it to promotions@1canoe2.com.

People Who Make the World Go Round {Teachers!}

teacher

We all know that teachers make the world go round. That’s the truth!

Next week, May 5th through the 9th, is Teacher Appreciation Week. †There’s no better time than now to let all the teachers in your life know just how much they are appreciated!

We definitely have a soft spot in our hearts for teachers. Karen and I are both former teachers, and we know first hand that it is a job that requires a big heart and an enormous amount of time and effort. As a way of paying it forward, Karen is leading the teacher appreciation week effort at her daughter’s school this year. Kids and parents are encouraged to write a little note of thanks to their teachers, and they will be showered with treats all week long!

We all have our favorite teachers picked out to surprise with a card and a treat, and we would love if you would think about doing the same! Maybe you have a child (or two, or three!) with some dedicated teachers. †Or maybe you have a friend who spends countless hours outside of school preparing lessons and activities for her classroom. Or, you might want to go back and thank a teacher from your past and finally let them know just how much they impacted you.

You can download and print our teacher thank you card right here! Let us know how you used it by tagging your photos with #worldgoroundproject.

People Who Make the World Go Round {The Tax Expert}

TaxExpertCard

Happy Tax Day!

It’s April 15th, and hopefully your taxes are all done, paid, and in the mail. If you are anything like me, you have a trusted someone who helps sort everything out, fills out all the forms, and explains all of the hard to understand things that come with making sure you give the government their share.

In recent years that has all become MUCH more complicated for us as small business owners. Luckily we have Wade. Wade is our accountant. He’s the guy with the brain that knows everything that we don’t, and helps us tackle our taxes. We appreciate him more that he probably knows, so we wanted to make sure to tell him! We dropped off this card to him today along with a little surprise, that hopefully he can enjoy now that his busy time of year is over.

We are hoping that you take a little minute this month to let your tax expert know how much you appreciate them! Maybe you use an accountant. Maybe your dad, or your older brother, or your spouse, takes on the task of helping you complete your taxes. Or, MAYBE you do your taxes yourself. If that’s the case, way to go! Great job. You should just go ahead and treat yourself today.

You can click right here for a free printable of the Tax Expert card. Go give it to your tax day hero and tell them how wonderful they are! (Don’t forget to tag any social media with #WorldGoRoundProject and let us know how you used it!)

People Who Make the World Go Round {Your Hairstylist}

hairstylist

This month we are thanking our hairstylists!

Yesterday afternoon I made a trip to see my awesome hairstylist, Jamie, for a little cut and trim. Just a routine maintenance visit, but I felt like a million bucks when I walked out the door! It’s a great feeling to know that when I sit down in her chair that I’m in good hands. I slipped her this card before I left, with a Starbucks gift card tucked inside, as a thank you! (she loved it!)

A great hairstylist is a valuable friend to have, and we hope that this month you tell them how much you appreciate their work! Who do you trust for your cut and color? Maybe it’s a trusted stylist who you have seen for years, or your best friend who colors your hair for you in her kitchen. You can download our hairstylist thank you card right here, and next time tell them thank you!

And, tell us about your trusted hairstylist! We would LOVE to see some before and after photos…hint, hint! You can tag any social media with #worldgoroundproject, or send us an email about it to promotions@1canoe2.com.

People Who Make the World Go Round {The Handyman}

handyman

Never take for granted a good handyman!

This month we are giving a big thank you to a couple of guys who have literally helped transform our business , our handymen, Steve and Brandon. †They make our world go round! Almost exactly a year ago we began the big project of renovating our barn and building a place that we could call our headquarters. It was no small task, and it took a lot of ingenuity, but Steve and Brandon were definitely up for the job, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! You can read about the whole project right here.

The guys just finished up little bit more work for us, installing more insulation and doing some finishing work in our storage room, so we really feel like the WHOLE project is finished. Today we all brought in a dish and we are having them over for a thank you lunch, which will also include a handwritten card from us, of course!

We hope you join us in thanking a handy-person that you know. Maybe your mechanic, your neighbor who always jumps in and lends a hand, or even that guy at Home Depot who always helps you find exactly what you need for all of those DIY home projects. You can download our handyman card right here. And, don’t forget to let us know about your handyman! You can tag any social media with #worldgoroundproject, or send us an email about it to promotions@1canoe2.com.

People Who Make the World Go Round {The Mailman}

O' Mailman of mine

The mailman. WHAT would we do without our mailman?!

We are kicking off our “People Who Make the World Go Round” project with a big shout out to our mailman, Richard! The mail is very important to us – not only because we can use it to send greeting cards and thank you notes to all our favorite people (we are in the stationery business!), but also because we use it every day to send retail and wholesale orders to all of our customers. We literally would not be in business without the postal service, and Richard, and his diligence and faithfulness in picking up our packages every single day. And, man oh man, some days we have a mountain of packages. Especially during those busy times of year, like around the holidays. He always shows up with a smile on his face and the willingness to bend over backward to help us out.

Thanks, Richard! You make our world go round!

cookiesforRichard

We left our mailman a little package of cookies with a note of thanks. We would LOVE if you would follow along and participate this month too! Maybe you could do something a little special for your mailman, or your UPS delivery guy, or the nice lady that works at the post office. We designed a little thank you card that you can save to your computer and print for your own use.

Click here to download the card, and don’t forget to send us any stories or photos about your experience with this project to promotions@1canoe2.com, and on social media use #worldgoroundproject.

We can’t wait to see how you thank your mailman!

People Who Make the World Go Round

MLKquote

Martin Luther King Jr. said it right! There really is great value in taking the roles that God has given us, finding joy in them, and putting our whole hearts into doing them well.

You know there are all those people in our lives, who go about their day to day business, doing their jobs with integrity and a smile on their faces, and we donít always stop to thank them. People like the mailman, the grocery clerk, a waiter or waitress, or a bank teller. Itís all of these people who really do make our world go round!

This year, in 2014, we are making it a point to go out of our way to thank these people. To let them know that we appreciate their work and that the world really wouldnít be the same without them. Each month we are going to choose one person who makes our world go round, and write them a little note of thanks, and maybe slip in a gift of appreciation as well. Last year was the year of pies, and this year is the year of thanks! You can follow along with us right here on the blog, and read the stories about who we are thanking.

We would LOVE it if you would join us and participate in this project! Each month we will have a printable card that you can download and use to thank someone in your life that makes your world go round. If you are participating, let us know! You can send photos and stories about your participation in the project to promotions@1canoe2.com, and we may feature your story on our social media (with your permission, of course!) Also, tag your Instagram photos, tweets and Facebook updates with #worldgoroundproject so we can follow you!

We will be kicking off our project with thanking our mailman, so look for our blog post about that really soon! And, start thinking about all the people around you who make your world go round!
